Clay, Glaze, Wood, and Nails

36” x 24” x 12”

  • Everybody was talking AT me, not to me.  New people, teachers, peers….ideas thrown at me loudly, getting louder until all the voices were  just noise at a very high decibel…intense cacophony! No one was listening to me.

Due to my father’s job, my family and I had to move during my junior year of high school. I left the place I grew up, and I was drowning in homework and rushing to get art done. I felt alone and I kept my ideas to myself. The wall of heads were the people surrounding me, blocking out what I had to say. The bed of nails was the pain I kept inside.

This project was very therapeutic and I really enjoyed the process; the malleability of the clay, the glazing, using the kiln and the final positioning on the bed of nails.
